In North America, Stora Enso participates in two internationally recognized certification programs: the Sustainable Forestry InitiativeSM (SFI) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) Standard. We maintain certification in these programs with periodic third-party audits.
The SFI is a comprehensive program of forestry and conservation practices designed to ensure that future generations will have the same abundant forests we enjoy today.
The ISO 14001 EMS Standard ensures a commitment to perform work that sustains and improves the environment. Our system helps us achieve sound environmental performance and demonstrate those results to woodland owners.

If you choose to sell your timber to Stora Enso, our forestry staff will:
- Design a harvest plan to meet your goals while protecting soil and water quality, and meeting or exceeding all legal requirements.
- Manage all aspects of the sale, including layout, road building, harvesting and marketing.
- Consider wildlife, aesthetics and reforestation on all harvest sites.
- Prepare a timber sale agreement with negotiated prices and terms.
- Conduct the harvest with SFI trained and fully insured logging professionals.
- Use modern, environmentally sensitive harvesting equipment. Apply sustainable forestry practices that are economically, environmentally and socially responsible.
