Environment at Skoghall Mill

Working actively for the environment

Recent extensive investments have meant that Skoghall Mill is a forerunner as far as energy consumption and the environment are concerned. We have decreased our consumption of oil and reduced emissions of fossil-based carbon dioxide by a total of 180,000 ton per annum. Emissions to water have decreased significantly; the quality of the water in Lake Vänern is as good now as it was over 100 years ago.

Electricity is generated by our own steam turbines. The mill produces almost one third of the amount of power it requires, which makes us one of the largest producers of electricity in the county of Värmland.

We have supplied the local community with steam for district heating since 1997, something that all parties involved benefit from. We consider this collaboration as being important for the future.
