Skoghall Mill is a modern world-class producer of carton-board aimed for consumer packagings and for printing purposes. Our products are used for some of the most demanding market segments, such as liquid packaging board, board for dry foodstuffs, liner etc. We work in close co-operation with our customers and researchers with developing and improving our products. Always keeping to our primary goal of being the world-leading paperboard mill. 

   
Location

Skoghall, on a peninsula in the northern part of Lake Vänern,
just 10 kilometres south of Karlstad in the middle of Sweden.

Product area

Coated carton board for demanding consumer packagings, such as liquid packaging board and board for dry foodstuffs.

   
Raw material Roundwood and sawmill chips (pine and spruce) are used for two types of pulp: sulphate pulp and CTMP (Chemo-Thermo Mechanical Pulp).

  1919 Start-up of sulphate mill

  1977 Start-up of KM 7, rebuilt in 1981 and in 1994 for higher capacity
  1978 Billerud AB acquires Uddeholm 
  1984 STORA acquires Billerud-Uddeholm.
  1986 Shut-down of the sawing mill and the sulphite mill
  1996 Start-up of KM 8
  1999 STORA merges with Enso and forms Stora Enso
  2001 Skoghall Mill acquires Tetra Pak's plant for PE-coating in Forshaga
  2003 Decision is made to invest almost 2 billion in the Energy 2005 project
  2004 Stora Enso Karlstad Research Centre is integrated with Skoghall Mill
