Paul Cheng is Technical Customer Service Manager located at Stora Enso Singapore. Paul originates from Hong Kong and has previously lived in Beijing, Malaysia and Brunei, before finally settling down in Singapore together with his Malaysian wife and two young daughters.

What do you like most in your job?
It gives me a great sense of achievement and encouragement to know that a customer, especially one who is usually demanding, is pleased with the service I provide. I’m familiar with most of the local big printers and their equipment. It is also really gratifying to know the regional big players, which naturally gives me the opportunity to see the skill level and the culture in the neighbouring South East Asian countries.
 
What does customer focus mean to you?
Trust is a key word in Asia and South East Asia. Therefore, accuracy and timeliness is important. Once trust is built it will be easier to handle, communicate and resolve issues agreeably. Customers in this region are mostly interested in the support level from the mills and the response time from the sales office, to provide them immediate options when complex problems arise. Patience is another important quality I have learnt, since the skill level varies from country to country.

How is to live in Singapore?
This is a vibrant city with lots of attractions and a variety of Asian spicy food, particularly local chilly crabs and chicken rice. There are some national parks where you can enjoy tropical trees and different species of flowers, and experience the serenity amid the lush greenery ambience. You can also shop until you drop till late at night in many modern and beautiful shopping malls.
