Stora Enso's growth opportunities
Stora Enso's future growth opportunities will come from growth markets, fibre-based packaging and selected paper grades, and cost-competitive plantation-based pulp raw material.
Growth markets
There is a need to have a stronger asset base closer to customers in growth markets.
Fibre-based packaging
Stora Enso has a strong starting position in fibre-based packaging materials and is convinced that versatile fibre-based packaging will compete successfully with plastics and other materials made from fossil fuels.
Selected paper grades
A more focused Group, with fewer product lines is foreseen. The paper businesses, but possibly not all of them, will remain part of Stora Enso. The Group will continue to work actively on consolidation solutions to create strong businesses within and outside Stora Enso that can create sustainable returns.
Cost-competitive plantation-based pulp
Plantation-based pulp is based on fibre growth rates up to ten times higher than in traditional northern hemisphere forests. As an early entrant into plantation-based eucalyptus pulp, Stora Enso is well positioned to capture this growth potential, particularly in Latin America and China.
