I’ve only been CEO here at Stora Enso for a relatively short time, but one thing I can tell you right now is that this is an exciting company – and industry – to be in. Surprised? You might be, but let me try to tell you where I see the Stora Enso team heading in the future.

When I say team, I really mean team. Teams are all about working together, because ‘together each achieves more’. Work in an open, transparent way, and you will be much better placed to succeed, that’s my experience. And much more likely to create a satisfying workplace for everyone as well.

Business is a team sport, where you can only win or lose. Which is why I’m driving hard for us at Stora Enso to focus on constant improvement – be it improving our cost performance, our innovation, or our earnings. We can always do better. Success is an excellent motivator. Winning is fun, even if it’s not always easy. And to ensure that Stora Enso continues to be the winning team into the future, we need new talent: energetic and enthusiastic people who want to deliver the best to our customers, our shareholders, and our other stakeholders. Something else I’ve learnt in my career is that it always pays to hire the best people possible. This is the way to build a stronger company.
