Robert Pearson, Technical Services and Sustainability Manager
Robert has studied paper science with management at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology. He started his career at Stora Enso as a summer intern at the sales office in Nottingham.
“After finishing my internship I moved to the London sales office as a Technical Assistant in the Publication and Fine Papers division. Following a reorganisation I then became a Technical Manager for Publication Papers covering our Newsprint, Magazine and Book paper publishers and end users.”
In the beginning of 2008 Robert took on the responsibility for sustainability communications across all divisions in the UK.
“Right from the start of my work at the company it has been a steep learning curve, particularly learning about print processes. I was given customer responsibility relatively quickly, but that suited the way that I learned and allowed me to develop quickly.
“I have also been lucky enough to have the support of my management when changing roles and responsibilities. Their open-minded attitude has really helped this.
“There is a good community in Stora Enso and after a few years of travelling you meet a lot of interesting, friendly and knowledgeable people and quickly establish a network of contacts. This helps a great deal in my day-to-day work.”
