Under the Stora Enso option programme for management (1997) 129 000 new
R shares were subscribed in November 2001, which have increased the share capital by EUR 219 300. In addition, 55 723 new R shares in ADR form were subscribed between 1 September and 31 October 2001 under the Stora Enso
North America option programme for personnel, which have increased the share capital by EUR 94 729.10. Subscriptions under these two programmes have increased Stora Enso's share capital by a total of EUR 314 029.10 to
EUR 1 541 480 608.30.

The increase in share capital due to both option programmes was recorded in the Finnish Trade Register today, 29 November 2001. The shares will be eligible for trading from 30 November 2001.
Following the share capital increase, a further 2 025 000 R shares may be subscribed under the Stora Enso option programme for management (1997).
