The Supreme Administrative Court in Finland has today announced its decision concerning illegal collaboration between forest companies in the wood trade. On 29 November 2000 the Finnish Competition Council ruled that there had been a breach of the Act on Competition Restrictions in respect of illegal collaboration between forest companies in wood trade follow-up meetings and imposed a fine of FIM 10 million each on Stora Enso, UPM-Kymmene and Metsäliitto Osuuskunta. The Supreme Administrative Court in Finland has today given its final decision, which is that the fine on each should be only FIM 3 million. Stora Enso has paid the previously imposed FIM 10 million fine to the State and the FIM 7 million refund to be received will be entered in the accounts for the year 2001.
