Dow Jones disclosed in October the company-specific results behind its latest sustainability indexes. The list of the companies included in the DJSI World and DJSI STOXX was published already in September. Now the more detailed analyses give Stora Enso the highest total score in the forest products and paper industry sector.
"I am very happy that we have achieved this leading position. This is the result of a lot of dedicated work from everyone involved here at Stora Enso. It is vital that our customers and investors know they can trust our company regarding the way we handle these increasingly important issues", comments DCEO Björn Hägglund.
The Group’s commitment to the EMAS and ISO 14001 environmental management systems has been mirrored in Stora Enso’s DJSI profile ever since the index was launched in 1999. The greatest improvement in the Group’s profile compared to the previous year’s results concerns the social dimension of sustainability.
“We are now clearly above the industry average in this respect, as well”, says Hägglund. “I believe that this upgrading is directly due to the publication and implementation of Stora Enso’s principles on Corporate Social Responsibility.”
Stora Enso has been selected for inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes for the fourth time. DJSI World includes 300 companies from 23 countries assessing economic, environmental and social aspects of the 2,500 largest companies in the Dow Jones Global Index. The pan-European sustainability benchmark DJSI STOXX includes 180 companies from 14 countries. The Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes are the first indexes to track the financial performance of leading sustainability-driven companies globally.
