Stora Enso Oyj was informed on 18 July 2008 that the shares in the Company held
by Tradewinds Global Investors, LLC has risen above 5% of the paid-up share
capital on 16 July 2008.

With reference to Chapter 2, paragraph 10 of the Finnish Securities Markets Act,
Stora Enso Oyj is reporting that as of 16 July 2008 the shareholding of
