Stora Enso Oyj Press Release 7 June 2004 at 10:00 GMT
Stora Enso's Russian subsidiary Stora Enso Packaging VR is today formally inaugurating its second Russian corrugated packaging mill at Arzamas in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, situated some 400 kilometres east from Moscow.
Demand for corrugated packaging products is increasing significantly in Russia and Eastern and Central Europe. This mill further strengthens Stora Enso's corrugated packaging production. Stora Enso's first industrial investment in Russia was the Balabanovo packaging mill inaugurated in 1998 at Kaluga, some 100 kilometres southwest of Moscow. That mill was expanded in 2002.
Arzamas Mill, completed at a total cost of EUR 33 million, has about a hundred locally recruited employees and an annual production capacity of 75 million m2 of corrugated packaging products. Its output will be sold in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, which has almost 4 million inhabitants.
The Finnish Minister for Foreign Trade and Development, Ms Paula Lehtomäki is participating in the inauguration ceremony.
