New Sustainability Policy

A pine seedling ready to burst open

15 January 2007

Today, a new Sustainability Policy was introduced and replaces the Environmental and Social Responsibility Policy from 1999.

In the past seven years there have been many developments in the field of sustainability and within Stora Enso, and the new policy reflects these changes. Stora Enso has gained a better understanding of sustainability and as a result, the third pillar of sustainability, economic responsibility was added to the environmental and social responsibility pillars in the policy. Additionally, the social responsibility section has been expanded to include employee health and safety and labour and human rights.

The new policy expresses Stora Enso’s vision for sustainability and sets the path for employees and the Group's suppliers and partners. Management is responsible for implementing the new policy and employees are expected to live up to the Sustainability Policy in their daily work.
