Our approach

Sustainability

Sustainability is the term we use to describe economically, socially and environmentally responsible business operations. These three aspects need to be in balance for our business to be successful.

To succeed we also have to build accountability into the way we work. We do this by being transparent, and open to dialogue with stakeholders.

Social responsibility
Being socially responsible for us means that our business practices are ethical, that we respect internationally accepted human and labour rights wherever we operate, that we create a healthy and safe workplace for our employees and that we are a responsible member of the communities where we operate.

Environmental responsibility
We strive minimise our impact on the environment. We do this by using raw materials, energy and other resources as efficiently as possible and constantly striving to improve the environmental performance of our mills. We also make sure that all the wood we use comes from sustainable sources by using traceability systems and by supporting forest certification.

Stakeholder engagement
Stora Enso’s operations have an impact on a wide range of stakeholders. These include employees, investors, customers, suppliers, and the communities were we operate. We listen and engage with all stakeholder groups with the aim of finding solutions and succeeding together.
