Measurable targets are needed for continuous improvement.

Stora Enso’s sustainability performance is guided by corporate-level targets for environmental and corporate social responsibility performance.

The Group’s progress towards these targets and general sustainability performance is annually reported in the Sustainability Report.

Stora Enso collects and manages various kinds of data in order to measure and improve its performance. Environmental performance illustrates five-year trends on emissions to air, discharges to water and landfill.

Stora Enso also collects and publishes key HR figures on employee diversity (geographic, education etc), gender diversity and occupational health and safety. Stora Enso has also developed a model and defined indicators for determining the economic impact and value creation of its operations.

Third-parties, such as socially responsible investors, also analyse Stora Enso’s sustainability performance.
