Stora Enso's emissions to air

Most emissions to air result from the combustion of fuels to produce energy for pulp- and paper-making processes.

Stora Enso has made good progress to reduce its sulphur dioxide (SO2) emissions to air and has reached the target of reducing the emissions by 15% by 2009 from 2004 levels. In 2007 emissions were already 17% lower than in 2004.

There has been an overall downward trend of nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions since 2003, normalised emissions have decreased by 13%.
