Through a regular Stora Enso internal audit in 2017 (November) it was discovered that there have been working hour recording errors in the China Packaging operations. The intention behind the practice was aimed at hiding overtime hours among manufacturing personnel, thus exceeding customer requirements.
Incorrect recording of overtime is a serious breach of Stora Enso's Code of Conduct
. We ended the practice immediately after becoming aware of the misconduct. All affected customers were informed about the issue and the case has been thoroughly investigated in cooperation with an external law firm. This investigation has now been finalised and as a result, we have taken the appropriate actions. Furthermore, we have made detailed long-term action plans to ensure future full compliance with applicable overtime requirements.
