Lily Huang is Manager, Mill IT, in the IT and Digitalisation organisation, located in Beihai, China. She joined Stora Enso over 13 years ago, working in the forestry business before moving into IT. Lily’s team provides solutions and service to the packaging materials mill and forestry operation in Beihai, including 24/7 on-call support to ensure smooth IT operations.

She also leads a local application services team for the mill and forestry systems, where she is responsible for developing team members’ skills and supporting them in taking on new challenges. According to Lily, it is all about staying one step ahead. “We have to ensure high systems availability and quality, as well as keeping pace with new technology developments and trends to ensure the best support for business operations.

” Lily enjoys the variety and opportunities of her position. “Every day there are new things to learn and new challenges to overcome, which makes my work interesting,” she says. “Stora Enso’s values give us the right direction and a platform for making things happen, and the culture of openness and innovation makes it a great place to work.

” Finding new approaches is key, and one example is a project Lily led to automate forestry wood sales by replacing paper delivery notes with electronic RFID tags. “This was a big milestone for us, making it possible to simultaneously improve data quality, work efficiency and transparency of supply.”

Outside work, Lily is a keen photographer. “It teaches me patience and attention to detail and helps me get close to nature. It’s not about having a good camera or photography skills – the important thing is finding the good things in your life. When you find these moments and record them with your camera, your happiness will increase.”
