Stora Enso is once again sponsoring TRADA’s University Challenge which takes place on Friday and Saturday 8-9 February in Sheffield, UK. The 2019 competition will see sixty students from thirty UK universities compete in an intense challenge to design exemplary student accommodation for a live site. Drawn from a variety of built environment disciplines, the students will be separated into ten multidisciplinary teams consisting of two architects, two engineers, one quantity surveyor and one landscape architect. The teams will be asked to design to a very tight brief, using wood and wood products and will be working around the real life constraints offered by the live site.
Gareth Mason, Business Development Manager, Building Solutions UK at Stora Enso, who works closely with TRADA on the competition, will be on-hand throughout the two days to provide technical support and guidance to students. “This is the third year Stora Enso has sponsored University Challenge and it has become an important fixture in our annual calendar” comments Mason. “As an industry leader working on major international projects, Stora Enso has much knowledge to share and it’s important that we support the next generation in developing the skills and expertise to design and build in timber.”
Students compete for the prestige of winning the TRADA University Challenge and cash prizes which will be shared amongst the four placed teams.
Results will be announced on Monday 11 February.
