Veracel the first tree plantation company to receive a biodiversity recognition from FSC

Veracel, Stora Enso’s 50/50 joint operation in the Bahía state of Eastern Brazil, is the first tree plantation company in Brazil to receive a recognition from FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) for preserving and responsibly managing ecosystem services.

Veracel, consisting of a pulp mill and eucalyptus tree plantations, has been restoring rainforest since 1994. The Veracel Station centre (Estação Veracel), established in the middle of an area of preserved rainforest habitat, conducts research and conserves native and endangered ecosystems. The Ecosystem Services procedure, created by the FSC® and issued in Brazil by Imaflora recognizes the performance of companies and organizations that use natural resources sustainably.
