Stora Enso is committed to driving a green transition with the forest at the heart and our solutions made from renewable materials in packaging, biomaterials, and wooden construction. We have set ambitious targets to support biodiversity restoration, address climate change and transition towards a circular bioeconomy, contributing overall to environmental, economic and social progress.
Our ambition and targets
- Reduce absolute carbon dioxide emissions 50% by 2030 from the 2019 baseline, both in own production (Scope 1 & 2) and within the value chain (Scope 3)
- Reach 90% material circularity in our direct operations by 2030, up from a 79% baseline in 2025.
- Achieve 100% performance for each biodiversity impact indicator by 2030.

"In 2025, we strengthened our commitment to accelerate the transition to a circular bioeconomy by launching a Climate Resilience Plan, which outlines the concrete steps supporting our climate ambitions. As part of this effort, we have also pledged to phasing out coal, reinforcing our continued trajectory towards net zero.
By the end of the year, we achieved a 61% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions and a 38% reduction in Scope 3 emissions compared to 2019. We continue to focus on performance improvements to enable long-term business resilience and the creation of sustained value for our stakeholders."
