Building resilience through reliable supply chains

Across our own operations, and in collaboration with suppliers and customers, we strengthen resilience across the entire value chain. Through responsible sourcing, transparent practices, and close partnerships, we strive for supply chains that stay resilient in changing conditions and support both environmental and social responsibility.

We continuously strengthen supply chain transparency, resilience, and performance through risk assessments, audits, and due diligence across our supplier base.

Reliability today is not just about delivery. It is about resilience, transparency, and long-term continuity.

Reliable supply and long-term partnerships

Supply chain disruption, geopolitical uncertainty, and raw material volatility are reshaping how companies evaluate packaging partners. Reliability is no longer just about delivery. Today, in our volatile world, it is about resilience, transparency, and long-term continuity.

Stora Enso combines global operations, local market insight, integrated value chains and access to worldwide suppliers to reduce dependency risks and secure consistent, tailored supply for customers. Our wood and pulp supply chains have been integrated with our operations to provide control over raw material availability. This means that our wood supply, production, and material flows have been streamlined for flexibility  and continuity even during market volatility.

With production and deliveries across Europe, South America and Asia, we combine global scale with local sourcing and production capabilities  reducing supply chain complexity and enabling reliable delivery close to customer markets.

For customers, this means greater predictability, reduced disruption risk, and consistent product availability.

Logs being transported via water.

At our Imatra Mill, wood deliveries are made via river and lake vessels during the summer time, helping reduce truck traffic on the roads. We continuously explore more new ways to transport wood aiming to lower our emissions and environmental impact.

Strengthening wood supply chains

We continuously strengthen resilience through:

  • Risk-based supplier assessments
  • Third-party audits
  • Responsible sourcing and due diligence

In 2025, Stora Enso acquired Junnikkala Oy to strengthen wood supply security for its Oulu packaging board site  supporting long-term raw material availability and reducing supply risk for customers.

Integrated assets

Our competitive advantage is a modern, integrated and well-invested production network. This means that our material flows, production, and logistics have been designed to support quality, efficiency, and supply reliability.

Long-term supply agreements

Stora Enso works with suppliers, partners and customers across its value chain to promote reliable sourcing, environmental and social sustainability, and long-term resilience. Through risk-based supplier assessments, audits, and due diligence processes, we continuously strengthen supply chain transparency and performance.

Supplier Code of Conduct

We regularly review and update our Supplier Code of Conduct to reflect evolving EU regulations and expectations. Suppliers are expected to commit to the Code and implement its requirements in their operations, supporting responsible business practices across the value chain.
