Making better choices
The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, taking place in Trondheim, Norway from 26 February to 9 March 2025, aims to be the most sustainable world skiing championship to date.
Many events will be held in the forest, providing the perfect backdrop for discussions on sustainable forest management and our collective, sustainable future.
At the event, we will engage visitors in meaningful conversations about how small, everyday choices can make a big difference. We aim to inspire people to think about their consumer habits and how they can integrate more renewable solutions into their daily lives.
Visitors will also have the chance to adopt a seedling. Taking home, planting, and caring for one little seedling may seem small, but it can deliver big results over time. If all 10,000 seedlings we give away grow into mature trees, they will capture approximately 9,000 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere.
Together for impact
2025 marks the sixth time Stora Enso has sponsored the World Ski Championships. As in previous years, we will provide medal winners and other athletes with seedlings. Replacing traditional bouquets with young trees gives athletes a long-lasting and sustainable symbol of their achievements. It also highlights the importance of the forest for the future and reminds spectators of the significant role sustainability plays in sports.
