Stora Enso will be supplying LVL (Laminated Veneer Lumber) wood products for the main frame elements of Supercell’s headquarters. The total volume of the delivery will be approximately 2,500 m3. Construction of the eight-storey office building with a floor area of nearly 13,000 m2 is estimated to start in the spring of 2018.
"We are proud to have been selected as the wood products supplier for this unique office project. We can see an increased interest in wood in construction. Wood is the only fully renewable building material, so from a sustainability point of view, there is no better option," says Jari Suominen, Head of Division Wood Products, Stora Enso.
The new office building will be based on Stora Enso’s building components such as posts, beams and ribbed panels for floors and roofs. The components are made of LVL from the company’s Varkaus mill in Finland, as is the case regarding the two multi-storey residential buildings currently under construction for Helsinki housing production in Wood City.
Once completed, the Wood City quarter will consist of two residential buildings, Supercell’s office building and parking house as well as a hotel.
