STORA ENSO OYJ PRESS RELEASE 3 December 2019 at 12.00

Former CEO of Stora Enso, Karl-Henrik Sundström, has been awarded the decoration of Commander, First Class, of the Order of the Lion of Finland. The decoration awarded to foreign nationals is a public recognition by the President of Finland for long-term work benefiting Finnish interests.

“The decoration of Commander, First Class, of the Order of the Lion of Finland is a recognition for the successful work Sundström performed at Stora Enso and with the forest industry while also contributing to the Finnish society. As CEO, Sundström developed the company into a renewable materials growth company in accordance with its strategy. During his tenure, Stora Enso transformed and renewed its production capacity with significant investments in both Finland and abroad. Sundström’s actions demonstrate his strong commitment to Finland. His own personal contribution has also significantly impacted the development of Finnish-Swedish cooperation,” says Jorma Eloranta, Chairman of the Board at Stora Enso.

“I am really honoured by this recognition. Stora Enso and Finland have a closely shared history and we want to work to build the Finland and world of tomorrow with our renewable materials. Over the past seven years, I have worked a relatively large amount of my time in Finland and it has been a pleasure to contribute to the Finnish society,” says Karl-Henrik Sundström.
