Tray Erectors – automatic tray former

Tray erectors, also known as tray formers, are packaging machines that put together different shapes and constructions of trays. The tray erector can be fed from a pallet or a sheet magazine. The sheet passes through the machine from its unfolded state, and comes out as a folded, sealed tray ready for packing.

It is a fast, effective machine that maintains a continuous flow, which means you can avoid unnecessary stops in the packing process and keep running costs down. The tray erector is compact and easy to use, and is designed with good operator ergonomics in mind. It can be added to an existing packing line or be used free-standing. Stora Enso’s tray erectors are reliable packaging machines that can run round the clock, helping you to optimise your productivity, maintain quality and stay competitive.

Four benefits of a tray erector

1. High productivity and short lead times

A tray erector can produce more corrugated boxes per minute than manual folding. An automated tray erector offers efficient packing and avoids the bottlenecks that are common in a manual packing line, enabling you to raise your productivity. With good control over the packing process and flow, you can keep delivery times short and meet the demand from your customers.

2. Fast changeovers

A tray erector is designed to minimise changeover time. The formating parts are easy to change without tools. It has maintenance-free chains and automatic chain tensioning. Quick, simple changeovers reduce down time, streamline production and leave more time for other important tasks.

3. Good ergonomics, comfort and safety

The tray erector offers ergonomic loading. This means it is designed to make loading easy on the operator’s body, thus reducing repetitive tasks and the risk of stress injuries. It is easy to use and operate, and has a closed system for personnel safety. An automatic tray erector that folds, forms and seals the tray. All you need is an operator to load flat corrugated board sheets – the machine does the rest.

4. Less transit damage

The tray erector folds all the trays correctly and consistently, which ensures that they stand firm. With manual folding there is a risk of slight differences every time – and if a tray is folded wrong, it could weaken and give. This in turn could mean damaged contents. A tray erector ensures that the products remain intact throughout the value chain, from storage and transport to the product shelf.
